Dismissed policewoman arrested for alleged car theft in Ogun state



Men of the Ogun State Police command on Wednesday paraded a 35-year-old dismissed police Corporal, Funmilayo Balogun, who impersonated herself as an Assistant Superintendent of Policewoman (ASP) to steal a vehicle worth N5 million in Abeokuta.

Funmilayo, who was said to have been dismissed from service as a Woman Corporal in 2010 for using a fake Senior Secondary School Certificate to get enlisted into the force, was also paraded along with an Islamic Cleric, Quadri Rabiu, who allegedly harvested the armpits and pubic hairs as well as the fingernails of a young lady to enable him prepare love portion for her.

Parading the suspects before journalists at the Magbon Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) base, in Abeokuta, the Commissioner of Police, Ikhemefuna Okoye, explained that men of the SARS arrested Funmilayo and Quadri along with 12 other armed robbery suspects who specialise in snatching cars along the bridges of Ibafo – Kaara/Ojodu- Berger long bridge in the Lagos axis.

Okoye further stated that the fake ASP was arrested by the police which had launched a serious man haunt on her after she had duped an automobile dealer in Abeokuta and went away with Honda car valued at N5million.

In her confessional statement, Funmilayo, who said she has made fortunes from the business, told journalists that she took to duping unsuspecting automobile dealers with the fake uniform after she had been dismissed from service at the Owo Division of the Ondo state police command in 2010.

In the confessional statement of the Islamic cleric, Rabiu told journalists that the items he collected from the lady who had consulted him for spiritual assistance were part of the materials meant to prepare the special love concoction that would assist the lady attract wealthy men to her side either for romance or marriage.

Okoye also paraded three armed robbery suspects: Julius Nanzo, Saheed Abogun and Wale Oladokun who specialised in robbing unsuspecting motorists along the bridges of Ibafo to Kaara long bridge in the Ojodu – Berger axis of Lagos state.

Also paraded along the armed robbery suspects was a 31-year-old Kayode Osikoya who murdered his biological mother during the Yuletide in Odogbolu local government area of the state.

Items recovered from the suspects included series of locally made pistols, toy AK 47 guns, fake police reflective jackets, charms as well as eight different vehicles of Toyota brand.
