Chairman of Ojuelegba Tricycle Operators, Murdered (Wiv Pictures)

The brutality and fatality that accompanies that prestigious position of transport union Leadership can not be over-emphasized. An earlier case of Alhaji Saula who was killed right in front of his premises soon after his return from Mecca which later escalated into a factional war between rival groups of transport union workers. The position held by these people are always sort after by other desperate group of Men who would go to any length to achieve their evil ambition.
With heavy heart as I write this column in remembrance of a wonderful and caring Man in the person of the Chairman of Ojuelegba Tricycle Operator, Mr Lekan Lawal fondly and popularly known as ARREST.
He was loved by all and respected by many but as they say, we can't expect love from all corners.
The 20th of March, 2013 was a day marred by de gruesome murder and death of Mr. Lekan, who was dressed in a white T-shirt, blue jeans trousers and a flat sole snickers. He was in company of friends when it was believed he received a call and had to excuse himself. Where he was said to have retired to receive his call in private, eye witness report say that "a tricycle popularly called Keke Napep rolled up carrying a group of men numbering to 4. Upon alighting from the tricycle,  one of the passengers went up to de deceased asking and probing if he was the one called Arrest. Upon response by the deceased, the unknown man shot the now deceased in the chest but that shot was not fatal enough to have killed him because the now deceased took to his heels but the group of men chased after him. De deceased was seen slowing down as the chase went on maybe due to too much blood loss which gave the unknown men a greater chance to finish what they started. He was further shot in the head while he laid down on de ground and was also shot in some other parts of the body during the chase. It is believed that the shot to the head dealt the final blow to the now deceased Chairman of Ojuelegba Tricycle operators. Soon after these unknown gun men confirmed his state, they zoomed off in their vehicle of conveyance  All through the gun shoot out and man chase, there was not one single uniformed man of the law (Policeman) in sight to intervene or even call for back up to chase after these evil perpetrators.
  Few hours later his body was deposited at Area C Command which was later picked up by the family members and relatives for proper burial in accordance to Islamic rites. He was buried in Sango area of Ogun state. He survived by his wife, 3 children, his father, sisters, brothers, Nieces, Nephews and friends innumerable.
May His gentle Soul rest in Perfect Peace.... Amen
