Your Favourite Coffee, Soon to power your car too

Image
It seems as though the coffee we drink to stay up all day has more than one use to it... Now it can power your car too. Scientists have advanced their work on giving used coffee waste a second lease-on-life as a viable fuel source for cars. A study by the University of Bath found that the waste material of beans originating from a number of geographic areas, and of different varieties, could be used to produce the biofuel. Researchers from the University’s Centre for Sustainable Technologies were able to turn 10 kilograms of coffee grounds into two-litres of biofuel. Reports say the discovery may not be entirely new. In 2011, a car running on coffee grounds broke the world speed record for a car powered by organic waste, while companies such as Beanergi in the UK collect coffee grounds from London cafes and turn the unwanted material into pellets used to heat homes and offices. The latest study, however, has found that all waste coffee grounds has reasonably standard composition...

#BRINGBACKOURGIRLS: I Have Contact with the Boko Haram Sect, Some Girls wont be returned says Obasanjo

Image
Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed fears that the more than 200 abducted schoolgirls, who were kidnapped about 2 months ago in Chibok while at school, might never return again. That instead, the terror group would release some of the girls that might be pregnant and finding it difficult to cater for their babies in the forest. Punch reports that Obasanjo during an interview on the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation said: “I believe that some of them will never return. We will still be hearing about them many years from now. Some will give birth, but if they cannot take care of them in the forest, they may be released.” Obasanjo, during the interview, also revealed that he has a communication link with Boko Haram, that he could reach out to the violent Islamic sect over the abduction of the schoolgirls, but regretted that the Federal Government is yet to give him the go ahead.

#Android: Best Apps You've Probably Never Downloaded Before (Part 1)

Had to Share this with fellow Android Users... TOTALLY AWESOME!!! This list isn’t about the apps that everyman and his dog has – the Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Spotify and WhatsApp-type apps of the world. No, this one’s focused on the apps that might have slipped under your radar; the lesser known but equally useful applications available inside Google Play. Basically apps that make your Android handset all the more useful in everyday scenarios. As more and more applications are added to Google Play it becomes increasingly hard to whittle out the wheat from the chaff. Flappy Bird springs to mind here: it came, it exploded and now, two weeks later, no one really cares – aside from all the developers attempting to cash in on the trend with similarly named titles and games. Iron Pants, anybody? There are currently around 750,000+ applications inside Google Play. Deciding which app to download is often a case of opening Play and checking the Top 10 charts, and that’s...
