But yesterday (Monday), they called us and said we should send the money to them. They sent their account number to us. BENIN CITY-NATIONAL Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof.Atahiru Jega has sacked two Electoral Officers attached to Oredo and Orhiomwon Local Government Areas of Edo state in the March 28 Presidential and National Assembly elections over alleged involvement in the disappearance of result sheets provided for elections in those areas. The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Edo State, Mr Mike Igini who disclosed this during a meeting with leaders of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state also said that some officers of the commission are being interrogated over alleged malpractices in the last elections, adding that those involved may face prosecution. The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a suspected cultist, one Ita for allegedly killing a 14-year-old David Okon for refusing to join the association. Ita had attempted to lure the innocent school boy into the ‘Skylo” cult group at T junction, Ikot Ekpo, 8 Miles Calabar. However, Okon resisted him, an action which led to his killing. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Henry Fadairo, who spoke to Crime Watch Today on the incident, described it as terrible. He said the “Skylo” cult group had put pressure on the deceased for several months to join them but he refused.
